Jixa is the sworn guardian of the forest, bound to its survival by duty and instinct alike.
A once-harmonious jungle now stands on the brink of ruin. An ancient malevolent spirit has awakened from its long slumber, unleashing a creeping corruption that poisons the land. Wildlife has grown savage and unrecognizable, vegetation withers where it once thrived, and towering trees (symbols of life and endurance) burn from within, hollowed out by dark forces.
As the natural balance collapses and the jungle edges closer to extinction, a single course of action remains: trace the origin of this corruption and destroy it before all life is consumed.
Armed with her whip and the primal power of the tiger within her, Jixa must venture deep into the heart of the corrupted jungle. There, she will confront relentless enemies, survive treacherous environments, and ultimately face the ancient entity that threatens to erase the natural world itself.
Jixa Lady Tiger Plus builds upon the original Jixa Lady Tiger, a nostalgic action-platform game created with a deliberate C64-inspired color palette that pays homage to classic 8-bit aesthetics. In the game, players control a young, whip-wielding female warrior who possesses the unique ability to transform into a ferocious tiger, a core mechanic that drives both combat and exploration.
Strongly inspired by classic titles such as Vixen, the game embraces old-school action design and transformation-based gameplay. Progression is structured around advancing through multiple stages filled with dangerous environments, precision platforming, and enemy encounters, culminating in challenging boss fights. The overarching objective is to save the forest, reinforcing the game’s thematic focus on nature, survival, and empowerment.
The Plus edition is based on the original version distributed by Oscar Celestini, but it represents a significant expansion rather than a minor update. Whereas the original game featured only 12 levels, Jixa The Lady Tiger Plus adds eight entirely new stages, designed to take advantage of a greatly expanded move set and more sophisticated level design.
Gameplay has been enhanced in almost every aspect. New mechanics include roll-action animations that improve combat flow and responsiveness, rope climbing to support more vertical and exploratory level layouts, and a double-jump ability that dramatically increases mobility and tactical options. These additions deepen the gameplay loop and allow for more varied challenges and player strategies.
On next-generation platforms, Jixa The Lady Tiger Plus also introduces higher-resolution visuals, delivering sharper graphics and smoother animations while preserving the retro look and feel. This technical upgrade ensures that the game remains faithful to its 8-bit roots while offering a more polished experience on modern displays.
