While never officially announced, programmer Jon Burton of Traveller's Tales revealed in 2020 that the development team had begun work on a sequel to Mickey Mania for the Sega Genesis. A prototype was created, and is still privately retained by Burton, but the game was cancelled in favor of developing Toy Story (1995).[176]
