Sleigh Chase is a Christmas minigame for Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, designed to be fun and easy to enjoy with the family during the holidays. It is our way of wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026.
It consists of three minigames:
Gift Collection: The Grinch's evil henchmen have stolen the last 10 gifts Santa Claus has left to deliver. The green elves will throw them to us from the sides, and we must collect them while dodging trees and the red goblins, who will steal the gifts we have already collected.
City Delivery: We fly over the city in our sleigh, looking for ten chimneys to toss gifts into (Button A on the controller). Don't throw them into lit fireplaces, and watch out again for the evil goblins who will try to intercept them.
The Twelve Chimes: After saving Christmas, we will ring the twelve bells by throwing confetti at them to form the New Year's greeting message. Don't touch the bombs, or you will have to start over.
The entire project's code has been created using OpenAI's Codex —both via its web version and integrated into VS Code— utilizing the SGDK library, building upon the foundation of last year's greeting minigame, which only included one stage. The graphic assets were designed with Nano Banana and adapted using Aseprite, while the sound effects were generated using Eleven Labs.
All music has been sequenced from scratch by Haddhar in DefleMask.
All source code, assets, and original files are available in their entirety on GitHub, fully open and without any usage restrictions. We are conscious of the ethical implications of using generative AI, and this is our way of trying to support the developer community by offering the game as a template for anyone who wants to develop their own project.
