Sonic is alone. is a psychological horror ROM hack of the Sega Mega Drive game Sonic the Hedgehog, created by Selbi for Halloween 2024. The hack explores themes of isolation, consequence, and irreversible loss by slowly unraveling the game world as the player interacts with it. removing familiar objects, distorting sound and visuals, and ultimately leaving Sonic trapped in a corrupted, empty purgatory.It avoids the pitfalls of Sonic.exe–style fan games by omitting the typical jumpscares, gore, and meme horror tropes, instead delivering its story through atmosphere and symbolically minimalist design.
