his patch brings the Mega Drive/Genesis port closer to its Coin-Op roots, with refinements implemented as cleanly as possible.
New in V3.3
-All 12 stage warning melodies retuned against two references: the arcade
and the game's own stage theme, so the switch no longer jars.
-Percussion reworked: kick and snare split across channels, with drum
choice and balance following the original themes.
-Warning zone now triggers at one third health, as in the arcade, instead
of at half.
New in V3.2
-The 12 stage warning melodies: fixed channels and timing.
-Renamed the patch/project to avoid confusion.
New in V3.1
-Touched up the Hardware Test and Boot Process visuals.
-Restored the 12 stage warning melodies lost from the Arcade
version (the 16-bit ports only speed up the main theme instead).
New in V3.0
-3-Button Support: remap any action to any button on a 3-button
Sega pad (Start now pauses instead of swapping P/K). Fully compatible
with 6-button pads - hold Start before a match to reconfigure.
-Randomized First 8 Stages: restores the random opponent order from the
original release (as in World Warrior / Super SFII), missing in SFII' CE
and Turbo.
-Authentic Boot Sequence: replicates the hardware check from the
Arcade, plus a credits screen for the foundational patches this project
builds on.
-Accurate Bonus Stage Order: matches the original progression.
-Score Reset on Continue: pairs with the SRAM patch so continuing resets
the score, keeping high-score tracking legitimate.
Author's Note
This patch builds on three existing mods to recapture that original coin-op feel. Huge thanks to their creators - this release is also a tribute to their work.
